Overseas students who meet the following conditions are eligible to
apply for NUPACE:
- Students MUST be enrolled in full-time undergraduate or graduate
degree programmes at overseas universities that have concluded an
academic exchange agreement with Nagoya University. Refer to Partner
Institutions. They should not be engaged in full-time
employment.
- Students MUST meet the application requirements of the “Student
Exchange Support Program (Scholarship for Short-term Study in Japan)”
as provided by the Ministry of Education, Japan, and administered by
the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO). Refer JASSO
Scholarship.
- Students MUST have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0
(B) or better on a 4.0 scale, or the equivalent.
- NUPACE requires exchange students to be proficient in either
English OR Japanese. Unless they attend universities where English is
the language of instruction, non-native English speakers who wish to
participate in the NUPACE English-language curriculum should possess a
TOEFL score of 550 <CBT = 213; iBT = 79>, an IELTS overall band
score of 6.0, a TOEIC score of 780, or the equivalent. Students
intending to take regular university courses instructed in Japanese
must possess level one of the Japanese Language Proficiency
Test (JLPT), or the equivalent. NUPACE will also consider applications
from students having scored well in the Japanese language section of
the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International
Students (EJU). Please contact the NUPACE Office in advance if you have
taken this examination.
- Students Participating in the
Programme on a Self-financed Basis, NUPACE
requires all self-financed students to provide the Office with
documentary proof that they are able to financially maintain themselves
for the duration of their exchange in Japan. Prior to their arrival in
Japan, self-financed students must send a bank statement (their own, or
that of a close family member) to this Office, giving evidence that
they possess funding as follows:
- In the event of a one-semester exchange: The equivalent of
500,000 yen.
- In the event of a one-year exchange: The equivalent of
1,000,000 yen.
